Message from the President
My Cate Brothers,
It has been my privilege to serve the Cathedral Alumni and Associates, Los
Que Van Quedando (LQVQ) mission and members this past year. I would
like to sincerely thank our past officers and members for their great work
and the solid foundation they left behind. Louis Pelicano, Brad Roe,
Al Barcena and Andy Portillo have put their personal stamp on the
organization to make it the great community of "La Cate" brothers that we
encounter today.
This has been a banner year for LQVQ. We were able to help 21 students
who qualified for financial aid and this assistance amounted to $25,715.
These funds were raised through the profits of the "Tamalada", the "Irish
Open" golf tournament, and the Lightbourn Family/ Los Que Van Quedando
Raffle along with the many generous donations from alumni and friends of
Cathedral High School. They have been super supporters. All for
a great cause!
We now have an opportunity to help Cathedral students beyond our wildest
dreams! LQVQ has embarked on the road to establish an endowment.
Our goal is to reach $1,000,000 within one year of establishing the project.
This means that we will be able to give Cathedral $40,000 per year while
gains over this amount will be reinvested so the Legacy Fund will grow even
more. Legal documents have been signed and seed money ($25,000) was
presented to kick-off the endowment. Your support is
essential.
Please consider this as a personal invitation to attend our meetings which
are held on the 1st Saturday of every month (with the exception of the
holidays), We have lively meetings and the spirit of Brotherhood is
indescribable. Looking forward to seeing you there.
